A.I.S.E.’s Agenda for Sustainable Cleaning guides the association’s activities and represents a long-term commitment and responsibility to contribute to a sustainable future. This industry has a tradition of proactive engagement to drive sustainable production and consumption and is committed to the goal of a carbon-neutral Europe by 2050.
Driving sustainability progress
Our history of driving sustainable progress goes back more than 30 years and we continue to innovate and work with partners up and down the value chain to provide society with safe, effective and sustainable cleaning and disinfecting solutions that are part of a circular economy. Initiatives include the compaction of products, a strategy of plastic packaging, the use of bio-based materials, corporate social responsibility and engaging with consumers to adopt sustainable washing and cleaning habits. Our widely recognised industry sustainability scheme, the A.I.S.E. Charter for Sustainable Cleaning, is ahead of the curve and at the very heart of the Green Deal agenda.
Clear objectives for the future
A.I.S.E. advocates for a science-based regulatory and sustainability strategy for chemicals which identifies those areas where legislation will bring the greatest benefits, enabling both industry and authorities to focus on implementing the best solution to manage risk to people or the environment. A.I.S.E. has always taken a proactive, collaborative approach in pointing out innovative approaches and alternative routes that meet our common objectives while minimising the impact on users.
The European Commission’s Circular Economy Action Plan, adopted in 2020, is one of the main building blocks for the implementation of the EU Green Deal, the overarching framework to enable a green transition in the society and the economy. It is a source of inspiration to achieve climate neutrality and halt biodiversity loss, while creating a truly single market. A.I.S.E. is actively working on several priority areas with the following main objectives:
- That all products placed on the market are safe and sustainable by design and have a circular lifecycle
- That products are energy and resource efficient
- That consumers are empowered for the green transition to make informed choices.
