Safe & sustainable use

The safe and sustainable use of cleaning and maintenance products is of paramount importance to A.I.S.E. Over the last 30 years, we have made continual commitments on product safety that go beyond legislation and have launched a range of voluntary initiatives to engage with consumers and professional users on safe and sustainable habits, use and disposal of products and packaging.

Engaging with our users

Engaging users, especially consumers, to change their habits is essential given that the greatest environmental impact of most of our products is when they are used.

As well as supporting the implementation of the Classification, Labelling and Packaging Regulation in Europe, A.I.S.E. has developed a set of safe use pictograms with short advice phrases for household cleaning products. A.I.S.E. encourages all manufacturers to add them to labels to align and strengthen the industry’s safety guidance throughout Europe.

Our consumer information portal www.cleanright.eu houses advice and guidance in 26 languages, accessible to 500 million Europeans. The Cleanright address appears on billions of product packs and is integrated into the Charter for Sustainable Cleaning logo.

These pictograms and icons, together with guidance for use, are available to both A.I.S.E. members and non-member companies free of charge. The toolkits and artwork are available in multiple languages and can be downloaded from this website.
