EU leaders and institutions must advance the Clean Industrial Deal: new Deloitte report will track progress

19-03-2025

This week, competitiveness will take centre stage as one of Europe’s top priorities at the European Council meeting on 20-21 March. We call on EU leaders and Institutions to take bold steps to implement the Clean Industrial Deal. Europe’s industrial future depends on concrete actions to lead in the transition to climate neutrality while staying globally competitive.

As European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, stated: “Only what gets measured gets done”, effective monitoring is essential to ensure accountability and progress. The Antwerp Declaration Monitoring Framework, published by Deloitte with input from signatories, establishes Key Performance Indicators to track the enabling conditions outlined in the Antwerp Declaration and, by extension, the implementation of the Clean Industrial Deal. These indicators will help measure progress, drive action, and ensure that Europe strengthens its industrial competitiveness in an evolving global landscape.

“As we evaluate the Clean Industrial Deal, we urge the European Commission for a clear, predictable and streamlined regulatory framework. Additionally, we seek realistic timelines and concrete actions. We must focus on simplifying regulation and prevent legislative overlaps. Europe’s industries are ready to do their part. The time to act is now.” emphasises Alexis Van Maercke, A.I.S.E. Director General.

Now is the time for Europe’s leaders to act—we want to see each EU leader and Institution making concrete progress on implementing the Clean Industrial Deal.
