For the past 20 years, the A.I.S.E. Charter for Sustainable Cleaning reports on eight key performance indicators (KPIs) annually. The most recent data has just been published and is now available here:

In 2024, 189 companies were signed up to the Charter, covering 181 manufacturing sites and 11.9 million tonnes of production in Europe, equal to 96% of total output. Since its launch, the Charter has achieved solid efficiency gains showing how our industry is using resources more responsibly while continuing to deliver value and innovation.

External verification & recognition

Independent verification

Charter member companies are regular checked by an independent, third-party verifier to ensure that the Charter sustainability procedures are in place. In addition, companies must report each year on the key performance indicators in this report, which are published annually by A.I.S.E. In addition, the appropriate implementation of the different ASP requirements is systematically verified. Independent third-party verification by accredited auditing bodies guarantees the robustness of the industry scheme.

Nature and scope of KPI data verification

Within the framework of the A.I.S.E. Charter for Sustainable Cleaning, A.I.S.E. (representing the cleaning and hygiene products industry) has engaged Deloitte Bedrijfsrevisoren BV to perform an advisory engagement on the KPI data gathering process of eight reporting Charter member companies. As a result of the engagement, Deloitte Bedrijfsrevisoren BV has reported factual observations and recommendations on the data collection process and controls of the sample of those Charter members to A.I.S.E. The companies concerned were informed on those observations and recommendations. In a next step and considering those observations and recommendations, the concerned Charter members were asked for confirmation of the reported data or to update their reports.
